Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek’s work embodies the concepts of transformation and reinvention. Spanning furniture design, architecture and fine art, Eek elevates discarded, quotidian and unorthodox materials into pieces that make a strong case for the design as art conversation.
The Canteen Eek rectangular dining table features a 9 cm thick table top, constructed from carefully arranged scrapwood planks. Each one is cut, sanded, arranged, glued, nailed and lacquered to create decorative and often colourful surfaces, which invite touch. It is a distinguished yet functional table, designed as a centrepiece for dining rooms or hallways.
As a hand-crafted item of furniture, slight variances will occur in the wood and colours of the table. It can be custom made in bespoke sizes and heights upon request.
